About Me

My Photo
Sydney, New South Wales, Australia
Life in the historic town of Windsor, flanked by the Hawkesbury River is idyllic. So much beauty, so many sensory gifts touch my life. My passion is drawing. It's absolute simplicity is it's gift and it's challenge. The gift: instant communication from head and heart to hand and paper. The challenge: to be constantly present with the work, to leave the World behind, and stay open to inspiration flooding in. If not, then pencil as a medium is unforgiving. I've been creating art professionally since 1995. Five Solo, many Group Exhibitions and commissions and creating whimsical art for eBay have kept me busy for years. I love the Miniature. As a balance my ocean paintings and large Equine graphites are spirited and airy! I rode horses from the age of 8,finding a life~long love and empathy with them when my first pony came to live with us. Patches, the fiery pinto taught me the meaning of tenacity, independance, patience, love, and facing my disappointments. Her beautiful red chestnut coat flashed with snow white, inspired my imagination. Horses continue to power my creativity, their beauty and spirit are endlessly inspiring! Jen

"Sealskin, Soulskin 3 ~ The Gift" 2.5" x 3.5"

“We can live on land, but not forever, not without trips to the water and to home...”
This tiny baby seal represents to me the inner child, whose gift to us is insight, the ability to see beneath the surface of things.. to receive air without taking a breath..
Excerpt from "Sealskin Soulskin" by Clarissa Pinkola Estes':
" The boy scratched open the bundle and shook it out--it was his mother's sealskin. Oh, and he could smell her all through it... And as he hugged the sealskin to his face and inhaled her scent, her soul slammed through him like a sudden summer wind...
The child feared his mother will leave him. But, she filled her child's lungs with her own breath, and took him beneath the sea with her...)
“And they swam deep and strong till they entered the underwater cove of seals where all manner of creatures were dining and singing, dancing and speaking, and the great silver seal that had called to Ooruk from the night sea embraced the child and called him grandson.
